I’m greatly saddened to hear of the passing of Dick Gregory. Author, comedian, and activist, and much more. This was from my birthday at the 2004 Brown @ 50 event honoring Brown vs. Board of Education; Bill Cosby had been awarded a medal and proceeded to say all kinds of wild stuff (Google: “Pound Cake speech) and Mr. Gregory had stolen his medal and wore it the rest of the night. I read my first Dick Gregory book in high school and was profoundly affected, and so it was, for me, the honor of a lifetime merely to stand next to him. May he rest in peace.
